Augment your research program with data analytics and curated insights from relevant stakeholders

Snapshot

Identify the researchers, research-users, policy makers and funders that are of interest to you.

Coalfacer will analyse the data they share to help you identify trends and opportunities to engage with them, and to recommend others that may not be on your radar.

Heuristics

Classify the rules that you apply and that you are happy to have applied to make decisions about your research, both express and implied.

Prioritise the objectives, incentives and interests that motivate your pursuits. Coalfacer will use your fixed and optional parameters to analyse opportunities to explore your research vision.

Actionable Insights

Design your feedback loop to attract stakeholder feedback from evaluators, participants and collaborators at the design phase.

Coalfacer will help you to engage with experts in research design, integrity, ethics and impact to optimise your proposals and study plans to accommodate relevant considerations. Use human insights and structured data to better anticipate and embrace best practices or make the case for a new-normal in your field.

Structural Support

Navigate the constraints that apply in your field, jurisdiction or organistion.

Coalfacer will customise your Design Studio, Matchmaker, Resources Centre and Transaction Toolkit experience to take account of relevant constraints and to optimise features that may attract opportunities to your research program.

Choose the right research problems, teams, resources and stakeholders, to pursue your research vision

Enabling technology to support your research program

For most researchers, operating within a silo is sub-optimal, particularly when the silo favours the incumbents over the innovators, and platitudes over progress. It should be easier to identify the accepted norms, standards and practices in a field of research. It should be possible for views on those matters to diverge and for resources to be allocated having taken account of those nuances.

Design Studio

The Design Studio is an interactive canvas for reasearchers to use in designing or customising research proposals. The engine used to generate and share insights takes account of policy, regulatory and industry constraints, as well as trends and best practices in the field of research. These insights are analysed in the context of the researchers motivations and research vision to make recommendations and references that may assist in developing research proposals.

Matchmaker

Find the collaborators, funders, resource providers and participants whose research vision complements your own. The profiling tools analyse a variety of data repositories to identify the quality of a reasearch problem, against the proposed participants, stakeholders and impact metrics applied to its evaluation, within the fixed paramenters of a set of policies or other constraints (such as funding periods). Use these insights to focus your attention on the proposals or partners that are best aligned with your goals.

Resources Centre

The Resources Centre is a marketplace of resources for research. Funding, data, intellectual property rights, facilities and materials are for reasearchers to use in designing or customising research proposals. The engine used to generate and share insights takes account of policy, regulatory and industry constraints, as well as trends and best practices in the field of research. These insights are analysed in the context of the researchers motivations and research vision to make recommendations and references that may assist in developing research proposals.

Transaction Toolkit

The Transaction Toolkit supports researchers in structuring and documenting engagement agreements for those participating in their research programs. Apply relevant policy, regulatory, research integrity and commercial paramters to identify and address issues as they arise, and send them to support partners to facilitate approvals as may be required.

Concierge Desk

The Concierge Desk provides access to experts in fields that may be useful in progresing a research engagement opportunity. Specialists in a range of fields from statistics and methods analysis, to due diligence, intellectual property, ethics and evaluation are available to support proposals on an ad-hoc basis.
